ROBERTA VALENTE

Su trabajo indaga en la vulnerabilidad del presente en diálogo con el pasado. A partir de las lecturas que realiza sobre teoría del arte, ciencia y notas periodísticas de actualidad, selecciona los temas a investigar, que aborda de forma poética y en serie. Trata sus imágenes como vestigios, cada imagen tiene relación con la siguiente. Recrea paisajes despojados y escenarios distópicos que alojan situaciones artificiales entre animales, seres humanos y vegetales. Arqueología, artificio y ficción son palabras que caracterizan su obra.
Se graduó en Pintura en la Facultad de Artes de la Universidad Nacional de La Plata. Continuó su formación en los talleres de Gabriela Caregnato, Verónica Gómez, Julia Sbriller y Carlos Rios. Recibió la Beca Creación del Fondo Nacional de las Artes y la Beca de formación en el Espacio experimental Planta Alta. Expuso de forma individual en el Museo de Arte y Memoria; en las galerías Cocomiel, Damme y Planta Alta y en la Biblioteca Central de la Provincia de Buenos Aires. Participó de muestras colectivas y fue seleccionada en distintos salones. Actualmente se dedica a la pintura y la investigación. Imparte talleres de formación y
producción de obra para artistas.

Her work explores the vulnerability of the present in dialogue with the past. Drawing on her readings of art theory, science, and current news articles, she selects topics to investigate, which she approaches poetically and in series. She treats her images as vestiges; each image is connected to the next. She recreates stripped-down landscapes and dystopian settings that harbor artificial situations involving animals, humans, and plants. Archeology, artifice, and fiction are terms that characterize her work.
She earned a degree in Painting from the Facultad de Artes at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata. She continued her training in the studios of Gabriela Caregnato, Verónica Gómez, Julia Sbriller, and Carlos Ríos. She received the Creation Grant from the National Arts Fund and a training grant from the Planta Alta Experimental Space. She has held solo exhibitions at the Museo de Arte y Memoria; at the Cocomiel, Damme, and Planta Alta galleries; and at the Biblioteca Central of the Province of Buenos Aires. She has participated in group exhibitions and has been selected for various art shows. She currently devotes herself to painting and research. She teaches workshops on training and
art production for artists.
